The Swasthya Sathi Scheme is another state government scheme of this type. The scheme offers West Bengalis a smart card through which they can access healthcare benefits of up to 5 lakhs. Initially announced in February 2016, the scheme was officially launched by the Chief Minister of West Bengal on 30th December 2016. To obtain all health-related benefits, it is a cashless health scheme.

  • National Insurance Company, Orientals Insurance Company, and United India Insurance Company will provide insurance coverage under the scheme for six, nine, and eight districts in different clusters.

  • There is a benefit amount of INR 1.5 lakh.

  • Every family in West Bengal will receive a basic health cover of INR 5 lakh per year

  • Using a smart card, it is a paperless, cashless process

  • covering all the pre-existing diseases as well.

  • There are no restrictions on the size of the family. Benefits are the same regardless of family size.

  • Benefits are provided to parents of both spouses.

  • The state will be responsible for paying the premiums. It will not be the beneficiary's responsibility to pay anything.
